Aikido
weapons include the Bokken, Escrima, Hanbo, Jo, Ninjato,
Suburito, Shoto and Tanto. We select
high quality exotic hardwoods to produce custom weapons that
are carefully crafted for their purpose and are affordable even
for beginning students of Budo Arts. Wood selections include
Cocobolo, Jatoba, Ipe, Purple Heart, Bocote and Honduras Redwood.
In our
quest to combine outstanding function with artistic appeal, we

We founded AIKIWOOD five
years ago in order to produce the best quality weapon at the best
possible price. Why should most students I trained with have to
make do with mass produced red or white oak bokkens, while only
a few were able to spend $200 plus to buy a handmade cocobolo weapon? Cost!
I set
out to apply my woodworking skills to craft handmade Bokkens and
Jo staff from exotic hardwoods for martial arts students at competitive
prices without sacrificing quality. Soon I received requests for
custom weapons from other dojos, and I was inspired by the positive
response.
My goal
then as well as now is to craft well made functional weapons with
balance and beauty at very affordable prices. When you see one
of my weapons, you know at first glance: it's an AIKIWOOD custom
made weapon.
Artistic
flair of a true AIKIWOOD: Handmade weapons
often display a company stamp, or the name/logo of the woodworker
is burnt into the tsuka. I feel this takes away from the natural
beauty of the wood. All of my weapons are crafted with contrasting
laminated end caps. This is my personal trademark.
It adds
artistic flair not found on other weapons and offers another design
element without interfering with the beauty of the finished piece.
